According to internet guru Clay Shirky, Americans watch roughly two hundred billion hours (200 000 000 000) of TV every year. That represents about 2000 Wikipedias’ projects worth of free time annually assuming that it took one hundred million hours (100 000 000) of human thought to build it.

If we could recuperate only half of these hours doing something more useful for our society, we would recuperate 28,6 billion days.
What do you think?

I, for myself, must have spent more than 10 000 hours in front of a TV! It’s a full time job of 5 years!
Well, for a consolation price, I guess even after more than 10 times, I am still having fun listening to The Lord of the rings and Star Wars

Thank you for your comment Mr.Lanthier. in the future, instead of spending 5 years in front of the TV , send me your resume earlier so we can put Mr Shirky’s advice in practice. LOL.

I stop wasting my time with the television about two years ago. I completely agree with this.
It looks like people abuse of their time to relaxe in front of the TV, a great tool to procrastinate, even more if we know that near of 33% of the time there are juste advertising.

Thank you for your comment JS. Every hour you avoid watching TV is an hour you invest in yourself and your self-development.
By the way, Otto Dix’s paintings and his life story were very inspiring.
