Why do a lot of people keep doing the same things over and over even when it makes them unhappy? They complain but change nothing.
They focus on the externals and neglect what is going on inside their minds.
They invest money on their houses, on their cars, on their swimming pools, on their boats and don’t invest money in their minds, on their skills and on their personal development.
They sit on their couch in the living room watching other people on television live their lives and make money doing it when they could be living their own lives fully.
They talk about diets and health endlessly without realizing they are sitting on the couch with a bag of chips and soda. All talk and no action.
This is just a personal observation.
And then again, without being aware of time going by…
What is YOUR relation between happiness and how you invest your free time?

Do you think that it’s more important to stop doing the things that make us unhappy, or should we try to find pleasure in the things that make us unhappy?
For eexample, i dread doing the dishes, it’s the absolute one thing, i hate doing. However, i cannot stop. Should i just try to find pleasure in doing it?
Of course if there’s a behaviour or an activity that’s unecessary and it makes us unhappy, i do agree that we should stop complaining, and just change our circumstances.
Change scares people.

Good morning Stephanie,
I hope you had a great week end, I did
To answer your first question,
If it’s possible to stop doing what you don’t like , I say ; STOP NOW.
If it’s not possible, I agree with you that we should find pleasure in it.
When I have to do something that I don’t like, I reward myself just before and right after the dreaded task.
That way , I double my pleasure and I reduce my frustrations in half.
When I do some cleaning tasks , I put on my favourite music, and I dance and sing as I work, it energizes me in a good way.
This about your comment about change.
You say that change scares people, I believe we should all try to do at least one thing that we fear every day , it doesn’t have to be a big thing,
But it has to be something that we are very afraid of. That way we get out of our comfort zone. For example , engage in a conversation with a stranger with a big smile
In a unfamiliar environment… I try it a lot and I’m amazed at all the interesting people we can discover. The a lot of other ways, try new food etc…
When we feel that emotion of fear growing within us, it is a sign and an opportunity to TEST OURSELVES and DECLARE WAR TO OUR FEARS.
I hope you receive this message.
