“The first rule is, to keep an untroubled spirit.”
“The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are.”
Marcus Aurelius (121–180)
Roman emperor and philosopher

When I try to live each day like if it was be my last, it gives me “an untroubled spirit” because of the satisfaction of having done the best that I could with the resources and the opportunities that were given to me.
When I try to look things in the face, it forces realism on me, it is not what happens to me, it is how I react to what happens to me.
Do you find it difficult to look at things for what they really are?
OR
Do you INSIST on seeing things AS YOU WANT to see them?

“Do you insist on seeing things as you want to see them?”
YES! Being more of a dreamer than a realist, i am guilty of seeing things the way i want to see them rather than seeing them how they really are.
Why do you think we do that?

Good morning Stephanie
I don’t know.
Maybe it is because some of our life circumstances are so difficult to face that we would rather escape in some kind of fantasy world of our own making.
Entertainment is so appealing because it takes our attention away from the real issues in our lives.¸
Words like guilt and guilty add value in our lives only when they bring us to align a behavior that we wish to change
with the desired results.
Otherwise, I see it simply as an additionnal burden to carry, and who really needs that?
But then again, I’m just guessing.
Thanks for your comment and have a great day.
